My first post

2015 was a stellar year for me and my quilting adventure. I added a Babylock Tiara Mid-Arm Quilting Machine to my growing list of tools to create my art.  This little workhorse has opened up my world and taken some of the fear away from the quilting part of my process.  I used it on 2 of the 5 quilts entered into the Quilters’ Guild of Arlington Festival of Quilts and came away with 5 ribbons! #thedress was my favorite creation and is shown on my Art Quilt Gallery – and it won 1st Place in the Art Quilting Category! Tribal Touch also took 1st Place in the Artisan Wall Category. The biggest surprise was winning a ribbon for the Miniature Quilt I donated to our auction for Susan G. Komen. I Spy 3D Folded Blocks got a 2nd place ribbon.  Captain Cat Sparrow also placed in the Art Quilt category in 3rd Place. The fifth quilt I entered was one that I began back in 1999 when I really dove into quilting as a passion. I hand appliqued these wonderful hand dyed pieces with silver metallic thread. I finally finished this process this year and wanted it to be in the show. It took Honorable Mention in the Theme Category “Joyful Reflections”. I was very proud of my awards in this show since I know what a good show it is and feel honored to be among those other great winners.  Now I have to compete at the next level in the Masters’ Division. Go Quilt!
